Newly appointed headteacher, Jane Cooper, said:
“We are delighted with the excellent results achieved by our Year 11 students this year, with over 93% of students achieving five higher grade GCSEs which is the best ever result for the school. In fact, nearly three quarters of the students achieved five or more GCSEs including English and Maths.
Many of our students achieved grades A and A* in all their GCSE subjects but worthy of particular mention this year are Dominic Ryder and Elizabeth Wasnidge who both achieved A* grade in nine subjects. I would like to congratulate all of our students and their teachers, who have contributed to this outstanding level of success. ”

We have the largest Sixth Form in Wales with over 500 entries, and over half of the grades achieved were B or above. 16 of our students achieved at least three A grades. The Welsh Government issues ‘banding’ outcomes in which every secondary school in Wales is graded from the Band 1 down to Band 5. This year the school retained its place in the top category, Band 1. Detailed analysis also reveals that we are the top banded school in Flintshire and fifth in the whole of Wales. In Summer 2013 we also achieved the third highest GCSE results in the whole of Wales.
